A common approach is to model each task as a small structure containing its current status, its next step, and any timing information it needs. This makes progress visible and inspectable. Tasks can then be advanced incrementally instead of being “run to completion” in one go.

Coordination becomes important when multiple tasks share resources or affect the same state. The key idea is to ensure that no task monopolizes the agent’s attention or prevents others from making progress.
This is achieved by keeping task steps small and predictable. Each step does just enough work to move forward, then yields control back to the main loop. Shared state is updated deliberately and consistently, so tasks can observe each other’s progress without interfering.
Crucially, this model avoids low-level concurrency primitives like threads or locks. Coordination is handled at the design level, using clear task boundaries and explicit state transitions.
